Adventure Kodiak’s cruises are all-inclusive, meaning you get the following included for one price: transfers to and from St. Herman’s Harbor and Kodiak Airport or Kodiak lodging, charter cruise for 6 days and 6 nights operated by US Coast Guard licensed Captain, all meals and snacks prepared by the chef, daily guided shore excursions for bird, bear, and other wildlife viewings, photography, and optional fishing, and Katmai National Park use permits. For anglers, fishing tackle is available for salmon, halibut and bottom fish for those that choose to fish.
Not included are alcoholic beverages and fishing licenses. You may buy your fishing license online at Alaska Department of Fish & Game or we can take you to purchase your license prior to departure. We can also take you to the local liquor store to purchase alcohol prior to departure.
Price is based for staterooms shared by 2 people and is an all-inclusive 6 days and 6 nights. We board Sunday afternoon and disembark Saturday morning. Please see our pricing page for costs and more details.
We take a maximum of 6 guests per trip for mixed groups.
Yes, this is as remote as you can get for coastal Alaska. We’ll be visiting remote, off the road places in the coastal areas of Katmai National Park and the Kodiak archipelago. There is only 1 man-made permanent structure along the 420 miles of Coastal Katmai National Park.
Yes, we have 24-hour electricity available for guests with standard U.S. outlets in all staterooms, as well as in the main salon.
We operate from late May to mid-September. When you come depends on what your priorities are for your trip. The bears start coming out from hibernation in May. If you want to see bears catching fish, then plan your trip for August through late September. For birders looking to catch a glimpse of a nesting puffin visit from late May to early August. Whale watchers looking for humpback whales will want to visit from May through August.
The weather in Kodiak Archipelago and Katmai is unpredictable. Average summer temperatures range from a low of 45F to a high of 68F with rain from 4.5 to 5.6 inches per month. You really won’t know what you’re going to get until you arrive, so be prepared to make the journey, rain or shine.
Every precaution is taken to ensure your cruise is memorable for all the right reasons. All shore excursions are guided by our KSP Certified Guides. The Single Star exceeds the USCG required navigational aides and personal safety gear and has a USCG 5-star safety rating and is operated by a USCG 100 ton licensed master.
If you are prone to seasickness it is a good idea to check with your physician regarding appropriate medication. If sea sickness stops you from cruising it is possible to meet us on site via air taxi. Air taxi is not included in quoted price.

Kodiak is located in the Gulf of Alaska 250 miles South of Anchorage.
An archipelago is a cluster or collection of islands. Kodiak is comprised of 20+ islands, with Kodiak Island being the largest and where Adventure Kodiak’s harbor is located
Humpback whales return in early May and stay through the end of August. There are resident and transient orca whales throughout the coast. You may see fin whales during spring, summer and fall, while grey whales arrive in April.
All of the bears you will see are Alaska brown bears (Ursus arctos), grizzly bears (Ursus arctos horribilis) Kodiak bears (ursus arctos middendofii). They are the largest bears in the world & have similar diets and habits.
Wildlife you will see will be split between coastal land and sea. Coastal land mammals you may see include Alaskan coastal brown bear (grizzly), foxes, wolves (Katmai), river otters, & deer (Kodiak).
Sea mammals you may see include orca whales, humpback whales, grey whales, fin whales, sea lions, seals, and sea otters.
Sea birds abound along the coast including bald eagles, horned puffins, tufted puffins, oyster catchers. See our complete list of bird species.
Plan Your Trip
Fly into Anchorage International Airport from anywhere in the U.S. then continue on Alaska Airlines or RAVN Alaska to Kodiak. If you have extra time you can sail on Alaska Marine Highway.

Be sure to properly stow your camera when underway. Carry a raincoat or cover for your camera plus a waterproof bag or case for going to and from shore.
There are several sets of 2-6 stairs on the Single Star. To get close to the bear viewing you need to be able to get in and out of the skiff and walk at least ½ mile on uneven terrain.
